Delphic HSE obtains ISO27001 standard with Appogee HR

Delphic HSE is a multinational consultancy providing specialist product safety and regulatory compliance services to the global consumer and industrial chemicals markets. First established in 2005, Delphic HSE employs 60 staff across 3 regions including the UK, Hong Kong, and The Netherlands.

The challenge

In 2021 Delphic HSE looked to obtain its ISO27001 certification through BSI. The certification itself is known to be notoriously hard to achieve and is widely regarded as the “gold standard” for information security management systems (ISMS) and their requirements.

Essentially it helps you address three key areas of information security: confidentiality, integrity, and availability. 

When Delphic HSE started to scope out the requirements to meet this certification they soon realised that the ISO27001 standard was effectively split into two halves; training and management processes around IT and HR/people management.

The solution

Appogee HR Success provided a complete solution that would enable us to meet all of the certification requirements and more. The following offer some of the main features we were able to use to help us achieve the standard criteria:

Asset management and traceability

Using asset management features within the solution we are able to keep track of our computers and equipment, holding staff personally accountable for any assets assigned to them. 

Having a configurable IT Manager staff role also allows us to ensure access to the information our IT team needs to do their day-to-day role but restrict access to any other employee information.

Company documents and acknowledgments

We are able to demonstrate that employees automatically receive access to key company documents, setting acknowledgments either by job role or members of a specific department. 

Document reviews are so easy for us now. The automation means we are able to demonstrate when we last reviewed each process and what changes have been made, as well as log staff acknowledgments of new updated versions. 

What’s more, we can transfer critical company documentation without sharing it via email, making it more secure and ensuring our employees have visibility of the most up-to-date information.

Checklists and automation

Checklists have proved invaluable as they demonstrate the implementation of our data security processes in real-time. We can see employees following a process, as they physically tick off an action to complete the process - which is amazing for us!

Not only does this help with data security, but it’s great for our new starter onboarding process. Checklists are assigned to HR, IT, and managers and we’ve set up additional security access settings for each staff member. These are also added to checklists.

Business continuity with Cloud HR

Appogee HR Success is built in the Cloud and all of our key company documents such as business continuity plans are held securely in the cloud and accessible by all employees regardless of where they are. 

By giving our employees access to self-service HR anywhere and any time, we are not reliant on our own servers should there be an unforeseen catastrophic event that would require our continuity plan to be activated.

Advanced performance management

The goals and performance features give us access to advanced performance management tools. We can record our objectives and show the cascade of hierarchy from organisational goals right down to the employee level.  

We can demonstrate constant awareness, and activity across the whole company, meaning we aren’t just ticking a box to comply with the ISO standard. We can clearly show how a goal is part of our business strategy and trace it from an executive level to the whole business.
