What is employee self-assessment?
Ask your employees to analyse their own working style, including but not limited to their individual strengths and weaknesses and what they think is going well in their role and not so well. Once the employee has completed their self-assessment in writing, their manager will then provide feedback on this before going through it in an in-person performance review.

Key benefits to employee self-assessment
It's important for employees to be able to identify their own individual strengths and weaknesses to help form discussions for employee performance reviews. By allowing employees to self-evaluate their own performance you allow for them to provide their opinions helping them feel like they're able to gives their 'side of the story' to form part of the employee performance review, making the review more valuable to the employee. It's also possible that managers and employees will have different opinions to how they feel their contribution is being made and by identifying these different perceptions, steps can be made to help contribute to a better working relationship and more understanding between the two parties.

Manager feedback
Key to employee self-assessment is the ability for a manager to provide feedback on any issues or successes the employee has identified. By using a solution which supports in-app end to end reviews, the manager can do this easily and the employee can view the feedback before the performance review to help form discussions for employee performance reviews. Alternatively, if the manager wishes to populate this after the employee performance review, this is also possible and can help summarise the discussions which have already taken place. There is also an option not to share manager feedback should the manager wish to keep this private and for their own records.
